CLINTON ARCHIVE A TOUGH REQUEST

As Hillary campaign gears up, researchers and journalists finding it hard to get papers out of Presidential Library

March 19, 2007

WASHINGTON – The razor-edged rectangle of the William Jefferson Clinton Presidential Library juts from a bank on the burbling Arkansas River like a massive metal file cabinet plopped in the mud.

To tourists, it’s a place to ogle the 42nd president’s golf clubs or the former first lady’s department-store-bought wedding dress. But to the dozens of reporters, historians, anti-Clinton types and eccentrics who have filed requests for documents from the library’s archive, it is Little Rock’s Fort Knox.

The museum’s 138-million-page presidential archive could play an important role in determining how Hillary Rodham Clinton’s controversial White House past will affect her attempt to reclaim 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

“I haven’t received any documents or even a note indicating that they’re searching the records,” said Jeff Gerth, a former New York Times reporter who requested a wide range of the first lady’s files for an unauthorized Clinton biography he’s working on.

With the 2008 election looming, researchers are eager to unearth undisclosed details from eight years marked by controversy, scandal and high-wire politics.

The Clintons’ longtime personal lawyer, Bruce Lindsey, who helped defend the couple in the 1990s, has veto power over the release of the most sensitive documents. Attempts to contact Lindsey weren’t successful.

Among the documents requested: almost all of Hillary Clinton’s files as first lady, eight years’ worth of her daily White House schedules, office diaries, day planners and telephone logs, according to a list of Freedom of Information Act requests obtained by Newsday.

Requests also have been filed for the internal correspondence of Clinton’s ill-fated early-1990s health care reform task force (despite a court ruling saying its deliberations could remain private) and detailed files on Filegate, Travelgate, Whitewater, Monica Lewinsky, the pardons scandal and even back-and-forth about Clinton’s 2000 Senate bid.

Sixteen months after the library started accepting applications, no major request for sensitive documents pertaining to Clinton’s first-lady years have been released.

Gerth, whose request was logged on Jan. 17, 2006, should be among the first to receive documents – or a rejection letter – based on the library’s first-come, first-served policy. He has received neither.

National Archives officials say the sheer volume of interest in both Clintons is slowing things down. As of last month, the archive had received 336 requests for documents, correspondence and e-mails totaling 9 million pages. That’s three times the material requested from George H.W. Bush’s archive in its first year.

“This is a tremendously complex and convoluted process,” said the library’s supervising archivist, Melissa Walker. “We review documents line by line, document by document, not box by box. It takes a lot of time.”

But there is a political component, too. Under the Presidential Records Act, an ex-president’s designated representative, in this case Lindsey, has the power to reject any release under the catch-all justification that the document reveals internal White House deliberations.

These so-called “P5” rejections are only allowed for the 12 years after a president leaves office, but President George W. Bush issued a November 2001 executive order that effectively extends that power indefinitely.

Of the first 54 requests that were acted upon for both Clintons between January and November 2006, only four were granted – and they were for videos and ceremonial letters.

Since then, about 500,000 pages of documents have been released – but there’s been little movement on the three biggest Hillary Clinton requests, according to the people who made them.

“We’re getting nowhere,” said Tom Fitton, executive director of Judicial Watch, a Washington-based conservative government watchdog group that has long investigated the Clintons. His organization wants to see Hillary Clinton’s schedules and diaries. “We may have to consider filing a lawsuit but the legal issues are very, very complicated.”

It will be interesting to see if one particular researcher obtains his documents for reasons that go beyond politics, not to mention the solar system.

No less than 77 of the FOIA requests – about a quarter of the total – are from UFO researcher Grant Cameron, who wants, among other things, “all files related to UFOs, Roswell, N.M., or flying saucers from the files of Hillary Clinton.”

It’s not clear whether Cameron’s request will be granted.

THE CLINTON SCANDALS

Whitewater: Clintons accused of using political influence in the 1980s to profit from ill-fated Arkansas housing development. In 1996, Hillary Rodham Clinton discovered tax documents related to the matter in her personal quarters, two years after investigators requested them. Cleared of wrongdoing by Special Counsel Robert Ray.

Cattle Futures: In 1979, Hillary Clinton invested $1,000 in cattle futures under guidance from a politically connected friend; 10 months later she quit trading after turning a $99,000 profit. No wrongdoing found.

Travelgate: In 1994, several Bush appointees were fired from White House travel office and replaced with friends of the Clintons. Ray cleared Clintons of wrongdoing but said first lady may have had hand in the dismissals.

Filegate: In 1996, White House staffer improperly collected FBI files on executive department employees. Clintons cleared.

On April 10, 2007 I wrote to the Clinton Library to ask if in fact it was true they were holding back files, and that I probably would not get any of the files I had requested.

Is it true?

Are FOIAs being taken in order?

Thanks

Grant

On April 12, 2007 the head of the library, Melissa Walker, replied that none of it was true.

Dear Mr. Cameron,
The William J. Clinton Presidential Library is part of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).  The Library holds Clinton Presidential records that are covered under the provisions of the Presidential Records Act (PRA).  The PRA makes all of these records available to Freedom of Information Act requests five years after the end of a Presidential administration, which for Clinton Presidential records began on January 20, 2006.  All FOIA requests throughout the NARA system are treated, as the law requires, on a first-in, first-out basis, which means that as requests are received they are filed in queues based on the date, size and complexity of the request.

The Clinton Library has experienced an unprecedented number of FOIA requests filed since January 2006 and currently has received 356 such requests.  Once a FOIA request comes to the front of a queue, the responsive records must be reviewed on a page-by-page basis for both Presidential restrictive categories and Freedom of Information Act exemptions.  Given the size and number of the FOIA requests we have received to date, all requesters are waiting their turn.  Some will have to wait longer than others simply because of the date, size or complexity of their request.  We are trying to be equitable to all requesters and process these records as quickly as we can.

Please let us know if you have further questions or need additional clarification.

Sincerely,
Melissa

As of today June 25, 2007 still non of my 100 odd FOIA requests has been completed…sigh

Edwin Easley and the 1947 Roswell Crash

Do UFOs Exist?

Aired July 1, 2003 – 21:00   ET

easleyKING: Tonight: What really happened at Roswell, New Mexico, 56 years ago this week? Did the United States military cover up a UFO crash landing, complete with alien bodies? Do UFOs exist? Have they been here? Tonight we return to Roswell with those who were there. Walter Haut — he was the information officer at Roswell Army Air Field. He wrote the now famous July 8, 1947, press release that said a flying disk had been recovered. Glenn Dennis — he worked at a Roswell funeral home and says someone claiming to be the airfield’s mortuary officer called to ask him about small caskets. Nancy Easley (ph) Johnston — her father was in charge of security and clean-up at the Roswell site. Jesse Marcel, Jr. — his father was a Roswell intelligence officer. He says he saw debris samples his father brought home from the crash site.

KING: All right, Nancy, your father was Army Air Corps officer in charge of security and clean-up. What did he — how old were you at the time?

NANCY JOHNSTON, DAD HEADED ROSWELL CRASH SITE SECURITY: I was a year-and-a-half old, so I remember very little!

(LAUGHTER)

KING: What did he tell you later on?

JOHNSTON: My father was reluctant to ever talk about this incident. Once my sister and I discovered that an incident had occurred that he had been part of, when we asked him about it, he always told us that he had promised President Truman that he would not discuss it. And he stuck with that up until the end — until almost the very end.

KING: Doesn’t by the fact that he wouldn’t say anything tell you that something happened?

JOHNSTON: I’m sure something happened. I am not privy to the knowledge of what exactly happened, but I’m sure something happened.

KING: Nancy, what do you — I know your father said, Say nothing, and he wouldn’t tell you what, and Truman and all that. What do you believe?

JOHNSTON: I believe that something obviously happened out there in the countryside close to Roswell that the government has tried very hard all these years to keep us from understanding and knowing about. Since I was not a witness, I have no personal knowledge of what it was, but it had to have been something very big at that time that the government wanted covered up.

UFOs in the 2008 Election (Update)

Written by Grant Cameron
Friday, 14 August 2009 03:35
As of yet UFOs have not become a part of the 2008 U.S. presidential election. Issues still center on the war in Iraq, and domestic issues that affect daily well being.

There is a lack of discussion on the issue of UFOs, despite the fact that some of the candidates have been involved with the issue in the past.

McCainWHJohn McCain, a leading Republican candidate for President has faced the UFO question in the past, according to Todd Ristau of the Iowa UFO Research Network.

Ristau claimed that during the 2000 presidential campaign, “McCain acknowledged that there are very interesting aspects of the UFO question and he is ready to investigate what he can, after he is elected.” He didn’t get elected so we will never know what would have happened.

When asked about the 1997 Pheonix lights which had always been held high by researchers as one of the firmest pieces of evidence we are being visited, McCain was less enthusiastic. He stated, “That has never been fully explained, but I have to tell you that I do not have any evidence whatsoever of aliens or UFOs.”

RICHARDSON_CroppedBill Richardson is a former New Mexico State governor, and a former Energy Secretary in the Clinton cabinet, now running for President. The files from the Clinton administration have not been released, so it is not yet known if he played a role in the Clinton interest in UFOs. Richardson did, however, get involved in UFOs during his time as governor.

In a forward to a book about the rumored 1947 UFO crash in Roswell, Richardson wrote, “the mystery surrounding this crash has never been adequately explained – not by independent investigators, and not by the U.S. government. There are as many theories as there are official explanations. Clearly, it would help everyone if the U.S. government disclosed everything it knows. The American people can handle the truth – no matter how bizarre or mundane.”

kucinichAnother candidate with a slight UFO connection is Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) introduced legislation to ban space-based weapons. This played into a belief in the UFO community that space based weapons have been developed to take on the aliens and not the evil empires of the world. Kucinich stated, “We signed the ABM treaty nearly 30 years ago; which requires a reduction in strategic arms, nuclear disarmament and general and complete disarmament. Weaponization of space clearly violates that treaty. My bill will call for an immediate and permanent termination of research, testing, manufacturing, production and deployment of all space-based weapons systems and components by any person, agency or contractor of the U.S. government.”

One of Kucinich’s main advisors is Daniel Sheehan who became a key figure in Ufology when he stated that while working on a project for the Congressional Research Office related to Extraterrestrial Intelligence. While working on the project he gained access to the classified Blue Book files where he viewed pictures of a crashed flying saucer with Air Force officers around it. He is also chief counsel to the Disclosure Project.

Kucinich, himself has not made any public statements related to UFOs and the subject of UFOs does not appear in his list of issues.

Biil_and_HillaryThe biggest presidential candidate to bring UFO awareness to the campaign is democratic front runner Hillary Clinton. Hillary played a role in the attempt by the Clinton administration to get to the bottom of the UFO and most importantly the 1947 Roswell UFO story.

However, having been in the election trenches many times in the past Hillary Clinton knows what it takes to win, and what things to avoid.

In the 2008 campaign Hillary has become religious about things such as  issues that will give her the disenchanted Republican votes needed to win in a close election. Having headed up health care reform in the first Clinton administration she knows good ideas don’t always fly, and might even loose voting support.

She and her spin doctors have focused their 2008 election discussion on such issues as immigration reform and border security. This will attract the Republicans who feel the President has not dealt with outsiders taking away American jobs.

She has not even gotten close to the issue of UFOs.

In September the X-Conference will be held in Gaithersburg, Maryland right outside of Washington D.C. The conference will focus on the governmental, political and media aspects of 60+ years of extraterrestrial engagement and societal denial – exopolitics.   Collectively, the X-Conference speakers hold enough knowledge of extraterrestrial-related phenomena and government involvement with this phenomena to end the government imposed truth embargo tomorrow.

These are the most important issues that have ever faced man and his awareness of his place in the universe.

All the presidential candidates are invited. How many will attend? Do not be fooled. Elections are about votes – not issues.

When the subject of UFOs means votes to a politician they will fight to be speakers at such conventions. Until then, they will “have other obligations” while they continue to watch the polls, despite the late Sir Winston Churchill’s warning that “dogs know what to do with polls.”

Government Openness

Presidential Candidates Queried on Environmental Openness

WASHINGTON, DC, August 17, 2007 (ENS) – New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, a Democrat, is the only presidential candidate of either party to sign a pledge to adhere to principles of open government if elected, especially with respect to the environment.

Developed by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility, PEER, the Public Service Pledge calls upon candidates to commit their presidency to conduct the public business in the open, keep vital documents in the public domain, protect scientists “who report inconvenient truths,” and protect whistleblowers.

Beginning in mid-June, PEER contacted all the campaigns by phone, fax, email and letter asking whether the candidate would abide by policies that avoid suppression and political manipulation of science, particularly on environmental issues – practices that have become a hallmark of the Bush administration.

The organization, which represents government employees in natural resources agencies, has followed up repeatedly with each campaign.

“We applaud Governor Richardson for being forthright and committing without hesitation to protecting the values of public service,” said PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch.

“Frankly, it is disquieting that the other candidates need so much time to ponder whether an unambiguous pledge of open and transparent government fits within their campaign strategies,” Ruch said.

Joining PEER in this effort is a group of prominent Americans, called the Leadership Council, whose members include political activists such as environmental attorney Robert Kennedy, Jr., former Congressman Pete McCloskey, and entertainer Al Franken.

In addition, the Leadership Council features public servants notable for being honest at great cost, such as climate scientist Dr. James Hansen, ex-FBI agent Coleen Rowley, and former U.S. Park Police Chief Teresa Chambers.

Former Senator John Edwards sent an equivocal letter offering “to discuss where I stand on the issues that you have presented…”

Only one other candidate, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, gave a definitive answer, rejecting the pledge “at this time” via a phone call from his campaign staff.

“We are mystified that these candidates seem unable to express a clear opinion on these basic issues,” Ruch said. “Presumably, voters want to know whether a presidential aspirant values honesty over message control.”

Richardson: No comment on UFOs
Five weeks into efforts to obtain UFO policy positions from Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bill Richardson, De Void has finally received a reply from the latter.

Richardson staffer Max Feldman states in an e-mail that “we don’t have a comment on this at this point.” Which suggests the New Mexico governor’s visionary call for UFO disclosure in a 2004 book called “The Roswell Dig Diaries” (De Void, 6/15/07) is radioactive on the campaign trail.

This isn’t surprising, but it’s especially disappointing in light of Richardson’s recent pledge to the Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility to restore open government to the White House (http://www.ens-newswire.com/ens/aug2007/2007-08-17-09.asp)

With his polling numbers mired at 3 percent in a recent survey by Quinnipiac University, and given that 64 percent of Americans in a 2002 Roper Poll believe federal data on UFOs should be declassified, it’s hard to imagine how the governor’s speaking out on this issue could cost him any political capital.

Still no word from the New York Senator, but the Los Angeles Times and the Associated Press have reported this week that documents concerning her White House activities as First Lady might not be released until after the 2008 elections. National Archives officials are reviewing some 80 million pages of documents at the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Ark., in efforts to comply with FOIA requests.

No doubt, a number of queries are coming from political rivals anxious to obtain any information they can use against her. But scores have also been filed by Canadian UFO researcher Grant Cameron (Devoid, 7/18/07), who’s making a circumstantial case for the Clintons’ intrigues at http://www.presidentialufo.com/bill-clinton.

Subject: US Presidential Candidate On UFOs

Congressman Dennis Kucinich – Pres. Candidate in Seattle on UFOs
by Charlette LeFevre and Philip Lipson
Kingdom Underground Newsletter Editorial
Seattle UFO/Paranormal Group

The Candidate with a history of disclosure.

Dennis Kucinich had just arrived at the Elliott Bay Bookstore in the quaint historic Pioneer District of Seattle from the University of Washington July 19th to talk to a small conversation club. The bookstore overlooks the blue waters of Puget Sound – the location where Seattle s founding fathers first set up shop in the gold rush days.  Over the years the bookstore has hosted prominent politicians and authors including Jimmy Carter so it was not surprising when word got out that Congressman and Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) would be arriving at the bookstore.

Kucinich – a short dark haired smiling man dressed casual walked comfortably through the small crowd at the cafe, past the espresso line and the grinning faces of Hillary Clinton adorning the cover of her new book. Kucinich took the wooden stage and spoke for a few minutes before eagerly answering questions.

There were questions regarding the Iraq war and relations with Canada but there was one interesting question posed to Kucinich. The question was framed with comments that trust and security are a huge factor with our government and asked in the same vein that Bill Clinton said he would look into the Kennedy assassination and the question of UFOs before his presidency, if he himself would look into these areas if he was elected president.

Surprisingly without hesitating Kucinich said that he indeed felt a great loss with Kennedy and he honestly didn’t know if he could ever find the answers to those questions. He then questioned the intelligent life in Washington D.C. which elicited agreeable laughter from the audience but Kucinich then stated in a serious tone we would be arrogant to think we are alone in this universe.

On disclosure, does Kucinich have the fortitude to ask the tough questions and follow through? At least in several instances it seems Kucinich has the background. Kucinich on disclosure used a rare House procedure known as a ‘Resolution of Inquiry’ to force the current Administration to provide Congress with a copy of the 12,000 page Iraqi declaration sent to the United Nations. People can now view the classified Iraqi document at:

http://www.house.gov/apps/list/press/oh10_kucinich/030311doc.htm

Kucinich then went on in to say we should not be dominating other nations, that we need to be strong and focus on repairing this nation. Dennis then finished with We are all connected”.

Standing up for people and standing up to corporations has been Kucinch’s trademark and indeed he has been a person who has walked the walk having marched with Seattle City Councilman Nick Licata in Seattle s1999 WTO protests.

A candidate with foresight? Kucinich introduced the ‘Space Preservation Act of 2001’ (HR 2977), which calls for the banning of all weapons in space and would outlaw all research and development for space-based weapons.

Interesting, a candidate that refuses to sell out to corporations, marches with protestors defending humanity and encourages peace and cooperation.

Is it any wonder that Kucinich has the endorsement from Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson s?

Keep your eyes on the stars and a watch on this guy.

The Seattle UFO/Paranoramal Group makes no endorsements and is an independant lecture group not affiliated or governed by any outside political agencies or organizations.

UFOs, The 2008 Election Campaign and Astrological Predictions

Written by Elaine Douglass

To:            The UFO Community
From:        Elaine Douglass  edouglass@preciscom.net
Date:         Feb. 12, 2008
Re:            According to their horoscopes, Who is more likely to end the UFO cover up? Obama, Hillary or McCain?

Quite a few emails have been showing up at my desk claiming one or another of the Presidential candidates is an agent of change, will embrace the “Star Visitors,” will tell the American people the truth about UFOs, and will end the government coverup. I even got an email claiming one of the candidates is a “Star Child.”

I’ve been an astrologer for almost 40 years, so I thought to consult the “chart of birth” of the 3 candidates and see what I could learn about whether Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, or John McCain is more likely to end the UFO cover up.

Barack Obama  As a sun-sign Leo, born with the sun high in the sky, Obama’s driver is the need for personal recognition.  Obama’s Leo sun is in an adverse relationship to Neptune in Scorpio. That means he is highly idealistic, easily led, and gets lost in the underworld. Another notable feature in Obama’s chart is Mars in Virgo in a good relationship with Saturn in Capricorn. This means his energy is disciplined, his initiatives will be cautious, and he has an excellent relationship with “the establishment.”  Obama’s rising sign is Libra, so he is conciliatory, diplomatic and strives for consensus.

If Barack becomes president, he will not lead the country into war because his Mars is disciplined and practical. With lots of planets in earth signs, his emphasis will be on the the industrial base of the US economy, and he will turn to the powers that be to see if he can build a consensus among them to revitalize the manufacturing and business base of the country.  Is he an “agent of change”? No. For example, the planets Pluto and Uranus (change planets) are not prominent in his chart of birth.  Obama wants stability. His motto is, “Can’t we all get along?”  He does not always have a great sense of direction outside the advice and counsel of older, experienced players.  As for the UFO cover up, Obama is not comfortable in the underworld. He will not be the master of it, nor does he have an interest in “weird” things, like UFOs.

Hillary Clinton  As a sun-sign Libra-Scorpio, Hillary, like Obama, strives for harmony, but she also wants power. Obama wants recognition, but Hillary would rather have power.  Where Obama’s sun is tied to idealistic Neptune, Hillary’s sun is in a close relationship to Uranus, the planet of reform.  Her rising sign is Cancer, which means she sees herself as the mother of us all.  Her moon in Pisces-Aries is tied to Jupiter, as is Obama’s.  This gives both of them a certain benevolent paternalism.  Hillary really does want to take care of the American people. Another notable feature in Hillary’s chart is a tight set of squares (planets in adverse relationship) in Scorpio and Leo.  This is the hard side of Hillary that people notice, and it is also a seat of great determination.  In a chart, emphasis on Scorpio, and Pluto (Scorpio’s ruling planet) creates involvement in finance, in secrets, in what lies below the surface. This is a realm Hillary Clinton does not shy from; she is not intimidated by the UFO coverup or any other aspect of the intelligence community. As president, she would make extensive use of intelligence, unlike Obama, who will not. I cannot say that if Hillary becomes president, she will tell the American people about UFOs and the cover up, but it will not be a secret from her.

Whoever becomes president will have to spend a great deal of time on the US economy.  Where Obama’s emphasis will be on building the industrial base, Hillary’s will be on the reform of finance.  We have all heard about the largely unregulated complex financial instruments which are playing a role in the current problems of our economy.  This is where Hillary will turn her attention since she has the kind of mind that can understand finance and money. Both Obama and Hillary have the ability to make positive improvement in the economy, and their emphasis will be different. Obama is more elemental; he is a physical guy who will want to build up manufacturing and infrastructure.  Hillary will look at the financial superstructure and she will reform it.

Additional on Barack Obama  A lot has been said about a “co-presidency” in connection with Clinton. What has not been noticed in that context is Michelle Obama, Barack’s wife.  The days of meek presidential wives, such as Maimi Eisenhower and Pat Nixon, are over. It appears to me that Michelle, who is a lawyer, is exceedingly important to Barack and deeply involved in everything he does.  Although people are not aware of this yet, to vote for Obama is to get Michelle and Barack–a co-presidency.  So what emphases does Michelle bring? Michelle is a sun sign Capricorn, an earth sign. Her driver is respectability, tradition, caution and respect for authority. All told, she brings 4 earth-sign planets to the mix, which complement and expand Obama’s 3-4 earth planets.  Michelle and Barack are very physical people.  They will build bridges and roads and steel mills and energy facilities and they will create new federal administrative agencies.  Health care? Maybe. Fundamental change? Naw. The Obamas want to join the power structure, not change it.  UFOs? Never. Michelle Obama would never permit her husband to get involved with anything as strange and potentially destabilizing as UFOs and the UFO coverup.

Additional on Hillary Clinton  Hillary is equipped to take on the problem of the black budget.  The emphasis on Scorpio and Pluto in her chart makes her interested in all aspects of the flow of money and how it is accounted for. She serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee and has heard about the trillions  missing from the Pentagon.  She will try to get to the bottom of it. In addition, I mentioned Hillary’s sun is in favorable relation with the planet Uranus. This means she is comfortable with science, technology, future-thinking, and “the unusual.” The same cannot be said of the Obamas.

John McCain is another physical character, with 5 planets in earth sign, including sun and moon.  McCain’s sun lies in Virgo in strong relation to the planet Uranus in Taurus.  This means McCain’s driver is the desire to get it right and he is willing to overturn settled conditions to do so.  Uranus wants to break things up.  With Uranus involved, McCain, like Hillary, is a reformer, but look further and we see a radical, even reckless streak in McCain. This is based on Uranus in difficult relationship to Mars.  Of the 3 candidates, McCain would be the biggest change-maker. On the other hand, we notice McCain’s moon in Capricorn in favorable relation to Venus in Virgo. This figure is stable, conservative, authority-respecting, tradition-loving. Thus we see divergent tendencies in John McCain, just as we do in Obama. Obama is on the one hand unrealistic, on the other quite realistic. McCain is both radical and traditional. This suggest if McCain attains the reins of power he could turn out to be a radical conservative.

Additional on John McCain  If he were president, what would McCain emphasize? The material world. He wants to set things right  (Virgo) in how we do business in America and he’s willing to break things to reach his goal. So far,  we know about is his deep concern with federal spending. Rest assured he will radically alter that. His chart tells me that after McCain finishes radically altering federal spending, he will turn to other sectors of the economy and radically alter them.  Consistent with his horoscope would be that McCain tries to alter property relationships in the United States; for example, he might be a trust-buster who breaks up big corporations, or he may try to redress the growing gap between rich and poor in this country. We would like to predict what McCain might do, but all we can predict with certainty is he is unpredictable. That is the nature of the planet Uranus, which figures so prominently in McCain’s chart.  Unnervingly, even he could not predict what he will do because it is in the nature of Uranus to strike like a lightening bolt from the blue. Another thing we should understand about McCain is he is not compassionate.  Both Obama and Hillary are far, far more caring than is John McCain. Not outside the parameters of what can be read in McCain’s chart is he will dose the US economy with bitter medicine–give us the “IMF shock treatment” where economic hardship is seen as necessary to bring a market economy into balance.

Would McCain take the country into more war? The US has no money for more war, but if it weren’t for that, he might, because the planet Mars in McCain’s chart is fully liberated.  It is beautifully placed in Leo, beautifully placed in relation to expansive Jupiter, and dangerously placed in relation to unpredictable Uranus.  McCain has an exuberant martial spirit. He will relish being commander-in-chief, will have an energetic foreign policy, and I’m sorry to say he’s a bit trigger happy.  If he is not constrained by lack of money, McCain would like to fight the war on terror with armies, navies and air forces, and in that respect he differs from Hillary and Obama.  Barack Obama’s Mars in Virgo, constrained by Saturn, is cautious and directs energy to practical activity, whereas McCain’s Leo Mars is directed toward “glory.”  It is unlikely Obama would use military force; he will try to fight the war on terror with goodwill.  Hillary will fight the war on terror vigorously, and her instrument will be espionage, not armies, navies and air forces.

In the meantime, we came here to discuss whether John McCain is likely to end the UFO cover up or at least what his attitude toward the UFO cover up is likely to be.  Frustratingly, his horoscope does not speak loudly on that issue.  Hillary’s chart tells me she will run the coverup. Obama’s chart tells me he won’t.  But McCain’s chart doesn’t say. John McCain is a huge change-maker but his changes have to do with property. He’s a physical guy and a glory guy. He’s an unconventional guy, too, who embraces science, technology, the future, and unusual things, which means he can mentally handle the concept of extraterrestrials. Yet, there’s little emphasis in McCain’s chart on the “underworld,” nor does McCain have a big power drive that would make him want to control it.  One thing though, McCain has promised to “tell the truth” at all times to the American people, and Virgo, McCain’s sun sign, is in fact very truthful.   Therefore, if McCain were confronted, publicly, on the ET question, he might have to tell the truth.  I wish I could be the one to ask him the question. I would say, “Mr. President, is the UFO phenomena extraterrestrial?”

Which candidate will be least intimidated by the UFO underworld and which is most likely to gain control of it?  Hillary Clinton.

Whom we should vote for depends on what we want.  All 3 candidates are outstanding individuals, and with the benefit of astrology we get to peek behind the curtain and see what really makes them tick.

The Day the Navy Established ‘Contact’

On July 6, 1959, Robert Friend, an Air Force major and acting chief of the Aerial Phenomena Division (Project Blue Book) at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio, received a call from another part of the intelligence community requesting that he evaluate a ‘discovery’ by Navy Intelligence.

Three days later Friend flew to Washington D.C. and met with two Navy commanders and several CIA intelligence officers. They began by asking Friend what he thought of UFOs.

“I soon learned why they were asking,” Friend told SECOND LOOK. “They knew the Air Force often approached sightings with a jaundiced eye – expecting witnesses to be kooks. In this case they were the witnesses.”

These intelligence officers who had called him to Washington began to unfold what well may be the most dramatic UFO events in the annals of government UFO investigations.

According to Friend, this is what they told him:

During the preceding month, the two Navy officers had gone to South Berwick, Maine, at the request of a retired admiral, to meet a woman there who claimed to be in contact with extraterrestrials.

The officers met the woman and watched her enter a trance and become a “communications link.” The woman sat mesmerized. Only her arm from the elbow down moved. It scribbled out meaningless circles interspersed with legible letters. They spoke questions to which answers appeared within the scribbling. The answers indicated they were coming from a kind of space patrol leader named “AFFA.”

According to the officers a number of unverifiable answers were offered to such questions such as, “What is the population of Jupiter?” Among other things, AFFA said he and his men were part of an inter-solar-system police force investigating atomic tests on Earth.

But more interestingly, the Navy intelligence men posed questions incompatible with her education of technical understanding- questions like “What is the length of the Uranus ‘ day?” and “What is the distance between Jupiter and the sun at Jupiter’s apogy?”

“Her” answers were correct, the two incredulous investigators later reported to Friend.

About 2 p.m. July 6, 1959, at a secret government office concealed on the top story of a garage at 5th and K St., N.W., Washington, D.C. (one of the two commanders, just back from Maine, went into a trance during which he wrote messages which indicated they were from an individual named “AFFA.”

AFFA’s origin: planet Uranus.

Another Navy intelligence and a civilian intelligence officer were present.

AFFA said he and his patrol team members were four extraterrestrials, officers in the OEEV, which meant Universal Association of Planets, assigned to EU or Euenza.

Erenza’s meaning: Project Earth.

Among the more interesting interchanges later reported to Friend were the following:

Q. It’s very interesting that we are talking with someone that we can see, but can see have proof of your existence?

A. What kind of proof do you want?

Q. Can we see you or your craft?

A. When do you want to see?

Q. Now.

A. Go to the window.

All the intelligence people went to the window, where they saw a UFO fly by (i.e.) not stationary) a short distance away. As they later told Friend it was saucer shaped and brighter around the perimeter than in the center.

The confusion that followed ended the communication with AFFA.

The attempts to verify the target with Washington Center radar were unsuccessful. No unidentified targets were returning radar echoes from that part of the sky.

Within several hours, friend was asked to come to Washington.

At 2 p.m., July 9, 1959, in the same secret Washington office, the Navy commanders, in the presence of the civilian intelligence officers, unfolded the preceding events to the wide eyes of Maj. Friend.

Friend suggested attempting another contact.

A short time later the Navy commander lapsed into a deep trance. “I saw it,” Friend told SECOND LOOK.

“There was no doubt about that in my mind. I could see his pulse quicken. I could see his Adam’s apple moving up and down rapidly. His handwriting was entirely different from his normal handwriting. The muscles in his torso did not appeared to be strained, but the muscles in his arms were obviously stressed – as were the muscles around his neck – especially in his neck.”

“I tried to ask some questions, but he did not respond to me. Others asked questions. He responded to only one man.

“I asked the one man that the Navy officer was responding to, to ask AFFA if he would arrange a flyby.

“The officer’s arm jerkily wrote out, “The time is not right.”

‘That trance lasted 15 to 20 minutes. There was no tape recording. No one had come prepared to make contact,” Friend explained.

“I was convinced that there was something there. It didn’t make much difference whether they (the navy Commander and the woman in Maine) were in contact with people from outer space or with someone right here on Earth. There was something there that we should have found out more about.”

Friend returned to Wright-Patterson AFB and prepared a memo to his commanding general. According to Friend, the general said that he would take charge of further evaluation personally.

Later Friend left the intelligence assignment and moved on to work on the staffs of various Air Force science advisors. He heard nothing more about the incredible communication with OEEV or its Earth project commander AFFA until after his retirement.

Friend is a credible source. He is now assistant director of engineering for Fairchild Stratos, a division of the Fairchild Industries, primary manufacturers of cryogenic releases for the space shuttle.

South Berwick, Maine is not rich in retired Navy admirals. There was only one. Although Admiral H.B. Knowles is dead now, his wife still lives there – not far from Mrs. Guy (Frances) Swan, a woman who for more than 20 years has been in close communication with the U.S. intelligence community, and with the space captain AFFA of the OEEV patrol, at least according to Mrs. Swan and many of those who know her.

Mrs. Knowles considers Mrs. Swan absolutely credible. “She is a highly respected member of the community. I have never doubted that she was in regular communication with people from outer space,” said Mrs. Knowles. “My husband was once asked the same question. He answered ‘There’s just no reason to believe everything that she is saying.’”

Mrs. Swan has been told to keep her secret involvement with U.S. intelligence. This she has done. She spoke with SECOND LOOK only because she mistook this reporter for an intelligence officer.

Mrs. Swann is neither well educated nor eloquent. She talks of “the good ones,” spacemen patrolling the solar system to protect us from dangerous geological faults and of “the bad ones” who want to colonize this planet. She believes that her communication is a prelude to “the second coming of Jesus.” She describes huge state- of – Maine sized satellites not too far past the orbit of the moon.

Mrs. Swan says that when the spacemen want to talk to her they make a sound like the musical note A. Though others in the room can hear this, only Mrs. Swan can communicate with the aliens.

Others should not try, she warns. She cites a recently received letter from the Navy commander whose life in general and career in particular were greatly disrupted by his contact with these foreigners.

She no longer needs a pencil and paper to read the answers. “That was when I didn’t have enough control over my own mind.” Now she can sit quietly, remove all distractions, and hear and speak to them silently. She does this almost every day, although they are very busy and usually have very little time for the chats. She can contact them when she likes, but rarely does, waiting instead for them to contact her.

Lending further credibility to reports of these bizarre events is a document purportedly written by the civilian intelligence officer, who was with the Navy officer when they reported the events to Friend. According to the document, its author, as Friend presumed, was an officer of the Central Intelligence Agency.

If legitimate the document substantiates everything said by Friend and most of what was reported to Friend by the Navy intelligence officers. It names the spacemen, their organization. It describes their purpose. It cites times and places of several meetings called to investigate the case – including the one at which the participants called upon the entranced Navy officer to produce the UFO, the UFO he did produce.

Author Robert Emenegger obtained, studied, and, according to him, verified the authenticity of the CIA document. Emenegger told SECOND LOOK he spoke with the CIA officer who wrote it. Although Emenegger has declined to identify the man, he told SECOND LOOK, “I am personally convince that the document is valid – absolutely – and that the woman mentioned has been in contact with people from outer space.”

Skepticism of the alleged CIA document’s validity becomes much more difficult in light of information obtained from Col. William Coleman, former chief spokesman for the Air Force.

Coleman addresses the issue directly.

“The document is authentic, and even without the document substantiating him, Col. Friend’s credibility is beyond reproach.”

I have identified and located the CIA officer present at the secret CIA photo center July 6, 1959. His name is Arthur Lundahl, now retired.

Lundahl confirmed that he was the civilian intelligence officer present when the Navy commander went into the trance. He confirms many of the details supplied by Friend and substantiated by the purported CIA memo – with a number of notable exceptions.

Though Emenegger would not identify the author of the purported CIA memo Emenegger says that the man was present at the July 6, 1959 event, and that the man was the civilian who confirmed to Emenegger the authenticity of the memo. This description of the man entails that it has to be Lundahl.

While Lundahl says that the navy officer did, in fact, report that he was in communication with AFFA and did instruct the group to look out the window for AFFA’s craft, nothing was seen.

Lundahl says that there was no such memo to his knowledge. He further claims that when Friend arrived and met with them, Friend was told by those present that no UFO had been seen. And that the navy officer did not – go into a second trance when friend was present. This contradicts what both Friend and Emenegger told SECOND LOOK.

Lundahl swears that his statements are true:

“Never for a fleeting moment did I believe that this Navy officer was in communication with outer space, nor did I see a UFO. The demonstration was not done at our request. The man explained that Mrs. Swan had shown him something called ‘Automatic writing,’ and that if asked he would show me,” Lundahl explained.

“He probably chose me because I was a friend, and because I had done the photographic analysis work on the Tremonton (UFO) sighting.

“Though I believe in intelligence life other than ours, I felt nothing but sympathy and embarrassment on this occasion, for a man who was troubled, who was my friend, and who, if his superiors had learned of this, would undoubtedly have suffered in his career.”

“There was one other person there. His name was Robert Nisham. He was a Navy photo analyst assigned to the CIA at the time. He and I have talked about this many times, and we agree that no UFO was seen. I swear I am telling the truth,” said Lundahl.

If Lundahl is telling the truth, Nisham would have to be the other Navy commander, whose name was deleted by the CIA memo that Emenegger claims is authentic.

Whether this case is one of the most incredible UFO events in history, or the best-perpetrated UFO hoax in memory will be explored future in a future article. A search by the CIA and the Defense department for the document has begun through SECOND LOOK’s demand under the freedom of Information Act. Emenegger has been asked to produce a copy of the document he purports is legitimate. And a search for Nisham, who retired from the intelligence community, is underway.

Notes from Grant Cameron

Mrs. Swan confirmed to me, in writing, that she did in fact have an agreement with the Navy to “be still.” Col. William Coleman confirmed to me, in writing that “The (CIA) document looked authentic” and that the word of Col. Friend was “impeccable.”

The secret office that is referred to in this article is NPIC, the National Photographic Interpretation Center. The construction for the lab began in 1954 in response to the building of the U-2 spy plane. NPIC, the most highly classified photo lab in the country, was the place where the U-2, SR-71, and spy satellite photos were analyzed.

Arthur Lundahl, referred to in the above article, was the man who discovered the missiles in Cuba, and the man who was taken into President John Kennedy’s office the next morning to brief the President.

Lundahl had according to Todd Zechel, the founder of Citizens Against UFO Secrecy (C.A.U.S.) had the biggest UFO book collection he had ever seen. Zechel had a reliable CIA source that told him that Art Lundahl had acted as a briefer for three Presidents on the subject of UFOs.

Science-Fiction Interests Want UFO Investigation SciFi Channel Spearheads Drive

POSTED: 2:38 p.m. EDT October 22, 2002 WASHINGTON —

The SciFi Channel is spearheading a drive for a government investigation into unidentified flying objects. Channel President Bonnie Hammer said scientists conclude that up to 10 percent of UFO reports can’t be explained by natural or artificial causes. The SciFi Channel is pushing for the declassification of government information through the Freedom of Information Act, as well as research into the phenomenon. Georgetown University law professor and science fiction fan John Podesta said Americans want to know what information the government has on UFO’s. The former White House Chief of Staff said the public can handle whatever information is out there.

Update on Reporter Billy Cox

I have known Billy Cox since 1988 after finding a letter at the National Archives written by Cox requesting information on what the archives knew about the MJ-12 documents that had been released at the 1987 MUFON National Convention in Washington D.C.

Seeing a reporter that was actually looking for the facts as opposed writing a tongue-in-cheek article on the subject, I wrote Billy Cox about our contact with former Penn State President Dr. Eric Walker. I asked Billy to follow up on what we had discovered.

Billy responded quickly stating he would look at the case, and it would treat it fairly. He warned however, that if we were trying to pull one, he would expose me and my co-author T. Scott Crain.

We have been in contact on the subject of UFOs ever since. My best wishes to Billy on his battle with cancer. He has been the best media friend ufology could ever hope for.
